World Cup ace for Newcastle

Ivory Coast World Cup star Cheick Titote is set to sign for Newcastle.

The Magpies are understood to have agreed a £3.5m deal with FC Twente for the midfield dynamo.

Tiote is believe to have agreed terms and passed a medical at St. James' Park although the transfer is subject to a work permit being granted.

The 24-year-old has been chased by other Premier League clubs after appearing in his country's three games at South Africa 2010.

Newcastle are likely to add a defender and striker before the transfer deadline with Man City's Roque Santa Cruz being linked to Gallowgate.
