United star’s new deal

Veteran defender Gary Neville has earned himself another year at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United captain has agreed a one-year contract extension after bouncing back from injuries.

The England right-back has been plagued with problems for the past 18 months but has recently shown that he is back to his best form.

At the age of 35 many thought Neville would finish playing at the end of this season and possibly move into coaching at United.

But boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: “He deserves it, his contribution has been fantastic.”

Fellow veterans Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes have also recently agreed new deals.
