Ronaldo saves United
Monday, 11/01/2010
Cristiano Ronaldo's world record £80m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid helped the Red Devils make a profit during their last financial year.
For the year-ending June 2009 they made £25.6m compared to a loss of £26.3m during the same period the previous year. Ronaldo was transferred in May.
It was also revealed that the club are trying to raise £500m through the issue of bonds. These would help offset some of the clubs debts, although financial experts are predicting there will be very little mainstream interest in investing in United.
United and boss Sir Alex Ferguson have insisted that funds are available if needed for new players. Fergie has said that he does not expect to buy during the January transfer window, despite the club appearing to need experienced defenders.
