Premier League reject play-offs
Thursday, 04/03/2010
Premier League club chairmen have rejected plans to play-off for the fourth Champions League place.
Shoot spoke out against the idea when it was first put forward a few weeks ago.
The idea would have been for the fourth, fifth, six and seventh-placed clubs in the Premiership to play-off at the end of the season for the last Champions League qualifying place.
But the Premier League board have shelved the idea, at least for the time being. No surprise that Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool were against the plans. In recent seasons only Everton have broken the big fours dominance of the European places.
