Hammers bag duo
Friday, 16/07/2010
Avram Grant has confirmed that Mexico's World Cup winger Pablo Barrera will be a West Ham player this afternoon, signing the 23-year-old from Pumas.
Barrera, who won the penalty that sealed Mexico's 2-0 defeat of France, has signed a four-year deal at Upton Park.
The nippy wideman is capable of being deployed down either flank, and was scouted widely by Arsenal in 2008 - only for a serious injury to end the Gunners' interest.
The fee to sign Barrera hasn't been revealed, but it is believed to be in the region of £4million, which would represent a real snip.
Alongside Barrera's arrival, Grant confirmed that terms have been agreed with Tal Ben Haim from former club Portsmouth - the defender having already followed the manager from Chelsea to Pompey!
The duo's arrival mean the Israeli manager has now made three signings since taking charge of the Irons, following in the footsteps of Germany international Thomas Hitzlsperger. French striker Frederic Piquionne, on loan at Portsmouth from Lyon last term, is also expected to sign for £1m.
