City boss set for new deal

City boss set for new deal

Thursday, 18/02/2010

Birmingham City are acting fast to tie manager Alex McLeish down to a new contract.

The Blues boss still has 18 months to run on his current deal but City want him to extended that contract.

Former Scotland and Rangers gaffer McLeish took Birmingham back to the Premier League last season after a slow start to his rule at St. Andrews.

Since their return to the top-flight he has bought wisely and built a squad that could easily finish in the top half of the table.

The ex-Scotland defender, 51, could even have pushed himself into the frame as a possible successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
