Capello’s England
Monday, 05/10/2009
Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor (pictured) is recalled by England to replace broken hand victim Jermain Defoe for the next two World Cup qualifiers. Agbonlahor will be hoping that club team-mate James Milner is given the chance to play alongside him and provide deadly crosses for the World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Belarus.
Surprisingly, Sunderland's in-form Darren Bent is not in the squad and there is no place either for Arsenal forward Theo Walcott who has just returned from injury.
England's game in Ukraine on Saturday is to be screened only on the internet following the collapse of Setanta in England. The Three Lions play Belarus at Wembley on Wednesday, October 14.
England squad: Paul Robinson (Blackburn), Robert Green (West Ham), David James (Portsmouth); Ashley Cole (Chelsea), John Terry (Chelsea), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Wayne Bridge (Man City), Joleon Lescott (Man City), Wes Brown (Man United), Rio Ferdinand (Man United), Matthew Upson (West Ham); James Milner (Aston Villa), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), David Beckham (LA Galaxy), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Gareth Barry (Man City), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Man City), Michael Carrick (Man United), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham); Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa); Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Carlton Cole (West Ham), Wayne Rooney (Man United)
