Around 1,000 specially invited guests today attended a special service to Sir Bobby Robson which was held at Durham Cathedral.
Among those paying tribute were England boss Fabio Capello, Man United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson plus numerous players from clubs where the County-Durham born manager was in charge.
Sir Bobby, one of the most popular figures in football, died in July after a long battle against cancer. He had managed England along with his beloved Newcastle, Ipswich, PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Porto and Barcelona. The thanksgiving service was shown live on television and on special screens at St. James Park and Portman Road. See the Bobby Robson tribute in Your Voice.

Sir Bobby Robson, what can I say? This legendary man took English football to another level, with his inquisitive ideas about the game and his knowledge of the game, brought a side who was under need of managment and development back into the top league and not only that he signed so many great players. Bobby Robson was a true hero to mankind. His courage and hope and determination - that showed when he managed Ipswich Town - shone through when he was diagnosed with his tragic illness. Even when he was ill, Sir Bobby thought of others and not himself, when he raised loads of money for a great cause. Sir Bobby shall be greatly remembered. He is my hero. He is a true Geordie.

A true gent who will be sadly missed by the world of football. There will never ever be another guy quite like Sir Bobby!
