Shawcross for England

Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross is a shock call-up for England's friendly against Egypt on Wednesday.

The former Manchester United trainee got his call just hours after being sent off for a horror tackle on Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey in Stoke's 3-1 Premier League home defeat.

Boss Fabio Capello has also picked Everton left-back Leighton Baines and Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock to cover for the injured Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge who has pulled out of international football.

West Ham striker Carlton Cole is back in the squad following his injury problems, along with Arsenal's Theo Walcott.
