Fergie for Preston

Darren Ferguson, the former boss of Peterborough, has been named manager of Preston North End.

The son of Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had also been linked with the Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton and Reading hotseats.

He left Championship strugglers Peterborough last month over what was believed to be a disagreement over the buying of players to boost Posh's squad.

Ferguson won half of the games during his time in charge at London Road and is highly rated as one of the most promising young managers in the game.
