Sunderland get some Sol
Tuesday, 20/07/2010
Sol Campbell looks set to sign for Steve Bruce's Sunderland after spurning offers from Arsenal, Celtic and, most notably, North East rivals Newcastle.
Bruce had been looking to bolster his back-line, with a move for Titus Bramble mooted in some parts of the media, but a bid for the 35-year-old topped the Mackems' priorities.
Campbell was out of contract at Arsenal, having re-signed for the Gunners in January, but has turned down a contract extension from Arsene Wenger.
The 73 time England international has made over 500 top-flight appearances in his career.
