Holloway goes for experience
Tuesday, 20/07/2010
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is looking to experienced players to boost his squad for their first Premier League campaign.
Bolton outcast Danny Shittu, Newcastle's released midfielder Nicky Butt and former England forward Franny Jeffers are all potential Tangerines.
Former QPR and Charlton defender Shittu, who appeared at the World Cup for Nigeria, has had a torrid time at Bolton where he has been left to stew in the reserves. He could be picked up for free or a nominal fee.
Butt was released by Newcastle at the end of his contract but he still has a family home in the north west, where he played for Man United, and would jump at the chance to keep his career going in the top-flight.
Jeffers was released by Sheffield Wednesday after a bust-up and the former England, Everon and Arsenal striker has been handed a trial in a bid to impress.
