Chelsea are considering a surprise swoop for Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.

The Premier League champions are ready to make a £2.5m bid for the 23-year-old after a string of impressive displays for the Championship club last season at Craven Cottage.

Bettinelli, who has enjoyed previous loan spells at Dartford and Accrington Stanley, produced 11 clean sheets in 45 appearances in all competition for Kit Symons’ side last season.

To cap off a remarkable breakthrough 2014-15 campaign with the Cottagers, Bettinelli received his first international call-up as he represented the England Under-21s in their 1-0 win over Czech Republic back in March.

Despite already adding Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic to their goalkeeping ranks this summer, Blues boss Jose Mourinho is still keen on a move for Fulham’s young shot-stopper.
